Customizable Order Form Explained

Please read carefully

Introduction: As we don't yet have a fully functioning website, we're going to have to use excel for the time being. I know, I know, its annoying, but trust me, we're working on it. February should see the arrival of our beautiful, streamlined, retail site which will simplify this whole process. But for now, take a look at the Excel. We've designed it like a website, and it has internal links which should help you navigate easily. Fill out the first two tabs ("tabs" are on the bottom of your screen in the Excel spreadsheet, they are a way to navigate from one worksheet to another) with as much or as little information as you would like. Then send it back to us via email to this email address. More details are included below. Depending on you, the order form could take 1 to 10 minutes to complete, its all up to you and how detailed you want to be with your very own designs!

Basic Steps:

1) Open the Excel Spreadsheet
2) On the Tab "Blazer Specifications," select how you want your blazer to look.
3) On the Tab "Sizing Details," select your size
4) Email the sheet back to us.
5) Wait night and day by the mailbox for your "DressMonkey by (your name here)" to arrive.

No time? Use a Template:

Blazer Choices: We understand how busy the corporate daywalker can be, so we've made it really simple for you if you are time constrained. Every blazer has its own template which was arranged by our lead designer, Adam Williams. Within the tab "Blazer Specifications," (where you enter your blazer requirements), he's analyzed the fabric, and created a design that he thinks you will like. You can deviate from this template as much or as little as you like, and anytime you want to refresh the template after changing it, click the rectangle on top of the worksheet to automatically select all of Adam's designs again.

Sizing Defaults: You can be as detailed or broad as you want with your sizing options too. If you don't have time to measure or want to play it safe by not measuring yourself, select either a "suit size" or "generic size" from the "Sizing Details" tab. We'll make your order according to the standard suit size or generic size that you selected.

:

Don't let some guy in Milan tell you what's cool...
This is where we are different from all the competitors. You can either use our recommendations to build a blazer, or modify according to your preferences. Take a risk, get that different lapel, or even still, try something you saw online but could never afford. Well, now you can!

Sizing: See the "Sizing Details" tab for exact descriptions, but remember that our templates (suit sizes) are your safest bet. At this point, self-measurement is a science we're still trying to refine, and it isn't perfect. We recommend starting first with a suit or generic size, then modifying if you think certain measurements are not correct within that standard size.

Requests: You can't always get what you want. Jagger obviously never shopped at DressMonkey. If you would like anything, and we mean anything that our choices don't have, let us know. We will try our darnedest to get you whatever you are looking for out of your blazer. The way you can do this is to first fill out a "backup option," i.e., in case we can't field your request for whatever reason. This means that you should select an attribute from our template for whatever you want changed. For example, if I want DressMonkey to find Pink Nylon Linings, yet the choices don't list that as an option in the order form, first select an option that you are satisfied with if Pink Lining is not able to be sourced, for example, choose "Black Nylon." Then, when you return the order form, please include in the body of the email (not the attachment), what exactly your request is. We can usually find anything (China's a big place, and our tailors are excellent at fielding specialty requests), and we're trying to hit a home run with every blazer so don't be afraid to ask for anything.

Sending the file back to us: We know that the Excel is big (about 3MB), so we expect some problems from sending the form back to us. One thing that you can do to make this process very easy if you cannot send the blazer back to us (attachment too large message, etc) is delete all grey tabs. We only need two Tabs "Blazer Specifications," and "Sizing Details" to fill your order. The other tabs are only there to guide you in selecting your blazer attributes, and if deleted should significantly reduce the size of your Excel. If you are still having problems after doing this, please send us an email at customerservice@dressmonkey.com, we always have other ways of sending the file.

We hope you are one of the first people to enjoy what we hope will become a global trend, designing your own clothes with the same premium fabrics and accessories as the big guys, but at a fraction of the price.

Enjoy your buying experience and enjoy your blazer!

Origin of the Species

Welcome to the official weblog of DressMonkey, chronicling the adventures of two young ex-corporate monkeys living in China and starting a men's custom clothing company from scratch. We’re changing the idea of “brand” by putting the power of creating a final product in the hands of our customers. We’re also changing the idea of “fashion” by offering an inexpensive, no-frills alternative to the label-conscious circus world in which we are forced to shop for clothes. Our flagship product is the man’s blazer, available this coming fall season. Join us as we trade in our tees and hoodies of college for the sweet seersucker of manhood. Established 2006 in Shanghai.
