Trinity College alums will soon be able to design custom blazers using lining with their school's colors and mascot.

I remember it well; the early days of DressMonkey when Coley couldn't shut up about one day offering Trinity College alums the ability to design a traditional, navy wool blazer with gold buttons and blue and gold Bantam lining. Needless to say therefore, we had had in the back of our minds forever the desire to create a custom linings service as part of our overall product offering. It ended up taking a former classmate of Coley’s (it helped too that his friend is also the head of the Alumni Relations Committee for the 2003 Class) approaching us in April about the possibility of producing a Trinity lining product for us to really devote the time and money necessary to carry out the plan.

One of the challenges in getting this type of specialty order off the ground was finding a fabric mill in China that was willing to work with our low-volume requirement and, dare I say it, wacky, college mascot-inspired design. What I quickly realized, however, is that it pays to have a guy like Coley on your team and on the ground in China where all the action is. Coley knew exactly where to go to find eager beaver factory owners looking for business. He was able to quickly locate a very capable fabric mill that worked well with our client's design and product specifications. The result? A soon-to-be coop of happy Bantams that The Monk can call his friends.

We are proud to bring such a great idea (and service) to market for the very first time. But perhaps I'm speaking a little too soon; we haven't delivered the finished lining to our client yet (yikes). However, the excitement of delivering on our first custom linings order is just too great for me to sit back and keep quiet!
